Modal runs the compute layer that AI teams actually need: serverless GPU infrastructure for inference, RL training, and agent sandboxes, all on the same platform. They just closed a $355M Series C at a $4.65B valuation, led by General Catalyst and Redpoint, after growing 5x since September. Founded by Erik Bernhardsson (ex-Spotify engineering) and Akshat Bubna. Their engineer Lucy Zhang is speaking Thursday: "Build Your Own Background Agent: The infra that scales it to millions." Dust is building the operating system for multiplayer AI: a shared workspace where teams and their agents work from the same context, tools, and live data instead of isolated sessions. They just closed a $40M Series B with Sequoia, Abstract, Snowflake Ventures, and Datadog. Co-founded by Stanislas Polu (ex-OpenAI research) and Gabriel Hubert.
